The 2016 Rosso di Montepulciano offers up striking aromatics to match its taut, classically austere personality. Rose petal, mint, cedar and blood orange add an element of exoticism that is impossible to miss. The 2016 is beguiling in its translucent finesse. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous,April 2021)

Took down a mountain of pasta in ragu with this delight. How do you say vin de soif in Italian?

Nose of ripe cherries, violet, licorice, leather, tobacco, cured meat, and cooking spices. Pretty fresh on the palate with underripe red fruit, spice and minerality. Medium acidity and medium to med+ tannin. Good structure.

Not super complex on the palate, but very drinkable and great structure. Would be good with a variety of foods.

Never had rosso de montepulciano, I never knew this was a different region then montepulciano. Wife picked this up and it is very good. I got an education from a Tuscan friend about the region I will keep an eye out for rosso de montepulciano wines.

An umami-driven wine with an almost meat-like flavor. Some stewed tomatoes, plus notes of anise and fennel. Well-balanced, with a good amount of acidity and slightly harsh tannins, leaving your mouth dry, and wanting more. Great for drinking with pasta.
