Layers of fruit, spice and tannin. Quite remarkable. Intriguing dryness. Complex wine. Need to revisit. Only 200 cases made.

Tannic but layered at the same time. Intense aglianico from Mendocino I believe. Just intense and intriguing.

2008. Really nice wine and drinking great right now, especially with an hour or two decant. I'd like more for sure.

Dinner in downtown Paso Robles and trying to mix up a day of Rhône-style indulgence. This Cal-Ital hits you in the nose with smoky blood orange, actual blood, herbs, and lavender. For an ‘11 and a Cali wine, I expected it to be softer. This has massive structure, beautiful acid and very grippy tannins wrapping a lengthy finish. Paired nicely to a braised short rib and also to my wife’s lamb ragu.

Wow! Great paso fruit with some sweet tannins. This is great but just a baby, the aglianico character comes in so well with fruit, tar, pepper, olive and you can't taste a hint of the 52 months this spent in barrel. Very unique.
