Jul 7th, 2024Stylistically, this is very recognisably Chateauneuf-du-Pape, with a very rich, intense and saturated bouquet of blueberry, steeped plum and liquorice, with dollops of garrigue, hoisin sauce and some gamey notes that help contribute to a simultaneously sweet & savoury profile. Archetypal stuff. At just three years of age, this has all the hallmarks of a young wine from this AOC - the oldest in France - with plenty of acidity, spice and firm tannins. A little hot on the finish at 15% abv. Very enjoyable, and should suit mid-term ageing.

Oct 23rd, 2020Dang this is good. A little got to start but then in the glass it turns into some really beautiful stuff. Violets and rose petals with some dark cherry and raspberry liquor. Glycerol and supple with a long finish that shows garrigue, berries and mocha. Nice!

Oct 24th, 2019Continuing the theme of France 2003 this weekend... Showing some age but in a good way. Color fading and tannins pretty much melted. Dried red fruit and sweet leather character.

Jul 8th, 2018A bright ruby, the '10 Vignobles Mayard Châteauneuf-du-Pape 'La Crau de ma Mère' offered up gorgeous aromas of cherry liqueur, spice box, cracked pepper, truffle and lavender that intensified with air. This medium-bodied Rhone rewarded the palate with layers of pure red fruit and spice flavors. Nice persistence on the sweet juicy finish.

Jan 9th, 2016This vintage is balanced with plenty of life. Black cherry, white pepper, a hint of leather, wet stones and plenty of tannins. 2011 vintage

Apr 17th, 2015This wine is going to get better with time. The fruit is restrained & the tannins are dominating. Tart cherry, earthy, pomegranate & plenty of acid. Lay this 1 down for 5 more years. 2012 vintage
