I adore this wine. Old school cool Alto Piedmont. Nose is a mix of freshly fallen leaves and deader leaves, tar, desiccated roses, smoke, mid season cherry and mega mega earth. Wild mint as well. Needs air but it will get there. Man this is so old school and awesome. Palate is sweet, sappy and structured with an awesome early season cherry fruit soak. This is so open now but has decades to go. Great showing. Fruit is spectacular and confectionary. Outrageous.

Mar 2nd, 2022Such a lovely nose. Strawberry, cherry, burnt wood shavings, herbs. Big mid season cherries. Chestnut. Very complex. Earthy and gamey. So good. Palate is so elegant with clearly defined mid season cherry fruit that is bright, pure and persistent. Then some late breaking tannins firm up on the finish. Much tighter than my last bottle. Let’s see where this goes.
After air this is more floral and the palate is much silkier and the fruit is sweeter. Tannins more integrated but still firm. 9.2 to 9.3.

Oh man. If the Sizzano is the St. Joseph the Fara is the Côte Rotie. Wow. Insane nose. Honey, roses, so floral. Takes 25 minutes to get crazy. Stunning spice. So pure. Palate is so juicy and deep with such breadth. Big, ripe and juicy tannins. But big. Impactful. So long. Just saps the palate. Truly a fine fine wine. So elegant and nimble yet also has power. This has 15+ years ahead of it. Grand Cru level. Really concentrated. Echoes on the palate. Might be a 9.5.

Just concluded the annual Fall seclusion at our cabin in the Rangeley lakes region of Maine, mobile service up there is mostly non-existent, after several days I am posting again.

Nose : earthy.
Palate is bright cherry. Cherry cough syrup. Good acidity. Good grip.

Much better with air. A little Ungiving on open. Gets much better. This rose lilac cherry flower perfume. Lovely. Very old school. Perfume gets very intense at times. Rose extract.
Palate is gently grippy. Very old school Nebbiolo. Cherries but like old dusty cherries If that makes sense. Lovely tannic grip. Juicy. Delicious.

Palate is almost pure spice. A hint of bitter cherry pit. Delicious. Wow.
A very singular wine. Needs a 2 hour decant to show its best.
