Beckstoffer To-Kalon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

Opened and poured into a decanter about four hours prior to service. The 2017 Beckstoffer To Kalon pours a deep purple color with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with significant staining of the tears and some signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing with powerful black and blue fruits, brambles, plums, currants, vanilla, cocoa and baking spices. Lavishly oaked. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the note from the nose. The finish is long and concentrated. Super primary at this stage. The fruit quality is very high and there’s a lot of it. A dense wine and I expect a long life. For my palate, better after 2027 and enjoy through 2050.

Rating later but throwing a big thank you to @Martin G Rivard - first sip was beautiful - 2 hour decant - really really gooooood!!! - dark ruby color - taste of ripe dark fruits - opening up very nice - finish is structured full bodied but nit all all over powering - Martin I am buyer and thank you - all smiles here

2023. Tasted via Coravin. Medium-heavy body. Not as cloyingly sweet as some fumbled attempts by others from this fly by night vineyard. Decent grip and gorgeous fruit. Wished for a bit more structure but all too many producers accessing this fruit lately be producing over-budgeted and under-delivering films…er…wines of substance. Not the best I’ve had from this vineyard in the last few vintages but not far off either. Picked up a 3-pack as it’s still better than nearly all the high-end Napa cab producers in this price range. Will say the same vintage/producer Beckstoffer Georges III (same pricing) was underwhelming and not even close to the running. 09.25.25.

Sep 25th, 2025Tokalon vineyard. Barrel sample. Smell- a little bit of smoke. This is a little darker than the dr crane (a little less fruit as well). I really liked this. Purchases futures of this.
