Opened and poured into a decanter about four hours prior to service. The 2017 Beckstoffer To Kalon pours a deep purple color with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with significant staining of the tears and some signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing with powerful black and blue fruits, brambles, plums, currants, vanilla, cocoa and baking spices. Lavishly oaked. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the note from the nose. The finish is long and concentrated. Super primary at this stage. The fruit quality is very high and there’s a lot of it. A dense wine and I expect a long life. For my palate, better after 2027 and enjoy through 2050.

Tokalon vineyard. Barrel sample. Smell- a little bit of smoke. This is a little darker than the dr crane (a little less fruit as well). I really liked this. Purchases futures of this.
