A great showing for the cab based super blend, but not really revolutionary either. Licorice, plum, red currant, black pepper with dusty tannins and some acid and alcohol in mid palate, well balanced.

I received this in an October 2008 shipment. The price at the time was $125 a bottle. It is a combination of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. Aged in French oak, this wine is very seductive with aromas of mocha, vanilla and ripe blackberries followed by flavors of ripe black cherry and plum that are deep and concentrated. The firm but ripe tannins carry on through the long elegant finish. Crafted mostly from Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine was barrel aged and blended for over 24 months in 100% French oak Bordeaux barrels. Viansa's goal was to blend traditional French aging techniques with the bright aromas and flavors of California fruit in order to create an elegant, powerful and memorable wine. Cellar up to 2020.
