A very enjoyable although not quite profound bottle. Rich brioche with citrus and pear notes. A crisp finish framed by nice acidity. Perhaps this should rest a few more years, or maybe it’s just the vintage as I’ve not had an 06 yet that was really bringing it.

Mostly reductive in style with slight hints of oxidation. Nice white citrus, beautiful soft chalkiness, sea spray, nice mouthfeel with micro bubbles, white flowers and very good acidity and soft, subtle beautiful finish.

Warm toast, fresh yellow apple, pear, floral, and honey. M+ acid, m- body. Long finish. On the palate - lemon, minerality, and spice.

Named after the venerable Widow Clicquot herself, La Grande Dame Brut 2006 is a blend of 53% Chardonnay and 47% Pinot Noir. The nose is expressive—bioche dipped in honey, baked apple and a whisp of smoke hanging above richer aromas. The attack is deep and vinous, and there is a lovely creaminess at the center. It finishes nicely, with dried honey and chalk emerging when the bubbles have at last ceased. Tasted at Veuve Clicquot's visitor's center. 8 grams dosage | Sample

Disgorged 06/2014. Popped and poured. Served in white wine glasses. This bottle was proof that Champagne is often served too cold. Initially, not giving up much; showing oxidative notes. After about 45min of air and coming up to temp, this was absolutely signing. Lip smacking Bosc pear, wild strawberries and brioche. Looooooong finish lasts over a minute. Decadent wine. Happy New Year to the Delectable community!
