This was a pleasant surprise. When first opened, there was a distinct prune aroma and flavor, so I was concerned it was over the hill and/or cooked, give me the vintage. But after 3+ hours of decanting it was beautiful. The prunes and age were gone, and just left dark dried fruits, plenty of acidity and tannins were still present, and made it a joy to drink. Not even a hint of browning on the rim of the color.

Jul 2nd, 2016Great wine. I don't normally say powerhouse but next to the ArPePe that's how it seemed. Seemed a bit off at opening, possibly slightly corked, but after wearing off tasted much better. Still not what I remember, and I think it should have been better, but it was perfect with dry-aged steaks.
