I definitely already need another Perth trip. My last trip in June was far too long ago and to be honest, we’re running out of stock!

If you live in Perth, and haven’t been out to the Valley recently, then this is your reminder to do it. You guys are seriously lucky that you have an amazing wine region right on your doorstep.

This lovely little bottle of Swan Valley wine was given to me as a gift from Renee at Upper Reach Winery (thank you!). This is the latest release of their Reserve Shiraz which snapped up a 94/100 in Ray Jordan’s West Australian Wine Guide 2019.

And you know what, I can see why!

Here are our notes for it:

It’s a deep red berry colour in the glass. On the nose I pick up plentiful spice entwined with blackcurrants, juicy plums and foliage. While in the mouth those fruit and berry notes flow through with a lovely smooth mouthfeel followed by a lightly tannic finish. It’s not an intense heavy weight Shiraz, rather, it’s approachable and knows how to make you weak at the knees 😉

This wine was given to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.

All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!

This was us starting off the week on a good note! Sometimes Monday nights call for wine and this Upper Reach 2012 Reserve Shiraz ticked all the boxes. We picked it up awhile ago from the cellar door for about $38.

In the glass it's a deep opaque red-garnet colour. There's something very sultry about the look of this Shiraz. It's highly aromatic, with warming cassis and dark berry flavours complimented with black pepper spice and liquorice. Intoxicatingly smooth fruit-driven palate with a nice spicy finish. Blackcurrant, cherries and black pepper spice dominate for me. The perfect comfort wine for a night in on the couch.
