60mois bottling. Sparkling Montrachet? 😅 Les Roises, coming from the oldest vines in the UC lineup with 2015 being the base vintage here is just about as good as it gets in a wine that sparkles. Simply complete. South facing and thus quicker to evolve, it explodes from the glass with intensity you just don’t get from Champagne outside of the ultra elite like that of UC and Selosse. Yields are lower than Enfers, but the vines are close to 20 years older.

Such is shown in its elaborate aromatic complexity already, flaunting deep layers of powerful and ripe orchard fruit, citrus oils, kouign amann pastry, white flowers and roasted nuts. The palate is immensely concentrated with impeccable energy and precision in its delivery which leads to its long chalky mineral and saline inflicted finale which just keeps going. These wines have really taken off in recent times, and as a consumer I’d like no one to know but that ship as sailed. This is as good as it gets in Champagne.

Olivier Collin’s Champagnes have to be in the conversation of some of the absolute very best in the region. Les Roises, 48 months sur lattes, and coming from the oldest vines in the lineup, is an absolutely stunning expression of Chardonnay. It’s like drinking some of the best White Burgundy with bubbles. With dazzling complexity, riveting energy and an intensely aromatic bouquet, it wafts from the glass with rich caramelized stone fruits, red roses, smoke and stony minerals. The palate is expansive, dense and vibrant with fantastic midpalate depth and a stunningly long finish. I need more Ulysse Collin in my life 🔥

This is the 60 months on lees, vs the 48 month on lees & I believe a 36 month version exists. This is a 2014 base , March 2020 disgorgement. An explosive & complex nose that is the clue that you will be drinking something very special. Acid that electrifies the mouth. Concentrated flavors of lemon, chalk and pear. A rare combination of richness and weightlessness. An infant with a wonderful future.

2014 - stupendous, again. Not as compelling as 13.1, but this was a great bottle. This is perhaps my favorite bottling from any producer in Champagne. Dense and yet weightless, almost perfect reduction, oak and freshness with bracing acidity.

2009 disgorgement. Without a doubt, this is one of the best bottlings in Champagne for me. Stunning every single time.

Makes it presence known on the nose and the palate. If this Champagne was a boxer he would win every round on points. This bottle is all about skills not raw power.

13.1 disgorgement. Hulking power and intensity is met with great minerality and energy. It will be interesting to see what the new wood component in this disgorgement evolves into.
