Vat 47 Hunter Chardonnay

A great option wine.

Start of Polar’s old Australian wine tasting. Showing its age with its best years behind it. Some oxidised sherry like notes. Still drinkable. Interesting to compare this with the Vat 1 from the same producer, same vintage and same area.

Lovely generous fruit and a well-balanced lick of oak. Beaut Hunter gear

Held onto this for what I thought was too long. Then opened my last 1999 bottle tonight and sha-bang absolutely killer nutty lemon curd and caramel.

Didn't pick it. Need to step up my options game.

2012

My pick of the show from the Australian First Families.

Classy and racy with great structure. Pure yellowish fruit on the expansive mid-palate, where a leesy feeling add complexity and creaminess. Sublime finish.
