Sillix Santa Ynez Valley Syrah

So glad I tucked this one away. It’s a treat. Savory, light on the tongue.

Still one of the best Syrah wines I've had from us.

Updating my rating, second day of air and this is bitchin'. Some funk on the nose, stil with cherry fruit. Anise, tobacco with the fruit tonight. Just amazing.

This is what I have dreamed of from Santa ynez. This is qupe meets Côte rotie (cool vintage), I get some floral notes on the nose maybe lavender and cherries. Great mouthfeel with some bite, but not too much. Definitely opens up with some air. Can't wait to see this evolve.

Not showing it's true potential today. Who knows, maybe it's me that's off...

First vintage. Decant her. She will run for hours.

Rich but not overpowering. Smoky but with the right amount of dark fruit and bacon fat to make the a real champion for syrah fans.
