Turley
Salvador Vineyard Zinfandel
My last Salvador btl. Sad this vineyard is gone, it’s always made such enjoyable wine. There’s a lot of balance here, lifted perfume, well juiced fruit, suave tannins.

Mar 14th, 2023The Salvador vnd from contra costa is always one of my favorite turley wines. So expressive from those sandy soils.
On the nose it could be nothing other than zin. It is so suave and silky. Not a hard edge to be found. Just a really easy and pleasing bottle of wine. Like a living poet, it requires little fanfare.

Celebrating the 4th of July with some delicious bottles, with this one getting a nod toward the American theme.
This may be the best young Turley Zinfandel I’ve had to date. I needed something to stand up to a grilled skirt steak with chimichurri sauce, and this was a match made in heaven. Freshly grilled plums, squeezed blueberries, black currant jelly, sandalwood, and baking spices on the nose. Ripe on the palate but certainly not overly rich or flabby. Solid acidity and structure. Juicy, yet tannic. Dark fruit preserves, mixed berry pie, hint of fig and cherry infused dark chocolate. Hedonistic now, and will continue to improve for years. Delicious! My thanks to @Dan Fitzgerald for helping me source a bottle.

BBQ & Zin night!
1 of 5 Turley zins tonight. This was the most unresolved of the bunch. Very little acidity which made the rush of dark fruits seem a bit flabby. Toasted oak, tobacco and spice. This needs more time to come together and I’m sure it will be delightful when it does.

When a friend hosts a pig roast that turns into a Turley tasting...
At peak if not a little past - some noticeable bricking. Still delicious.

Succulent.
Happy national Zinfandel Day!

Super silky tannin, absurdly elegant texture.

Thought Pinot for sure on this one (some guessed Willamette Valley). Very cherry and tart dominant. Cedar and licorice. Would have gone Petite Sirah before zin!

16.1% alc.
In balance = YES.
Delicious = HELL YEAH...
(and no mentioning of the IPOB silliness here because when it is done right YOU have absolutely no case).
