100% Merlot from Maremma, Tuscany. Dark Ruby, impenetrable in colour. Ripe black fruit , plummy notes, Barb thought a jammy note. Aromas also of pipe tobacco. The palate is velvety with a hedonistic feel about it. Oak has integrated. I need to drink the remaining 2 bottles in the next couple of years. One of the 1001 wines. Robert Parker gave the 2000 vintage the perfect 100 points.
