Trader Joe's
Platinum Reserve Yountville Cabernet Sauvignon
Yountville, Napa Valley, California, USA

As others have pointed out, this is way too jammy, definitely not balanced

Monthly WTF wine group meet up. No true theme this month. Some wines tasted blind.
Tasted blind...always good to have a bottle like this to keep people on their toes 😂.
Clove, menthol and a wintergreen note on the nose. Seems like a ringer for Aussie Shiraz. Soft. Sweet pipe tobacco & baked pie finish. A lot of sweetness here accompanied by a lot of oak. There is basically zero tannic structure on this. Thanks for pulling this out of your cellar @Benjamin Keator 😂

Blackberry, vanilla bean, cedar, cola, and overwhelming sweet mocha/lumberyard that eventually subsides. Solid overall intensity and balance.

Good for the price. Seemed very inky to me...not a stellar bottle of cab, but not bad. I would like to try the other Trader Joe wines.

Don’t brush off Merlot‘s. Especially if those Merlot’s are from Yountville, in Napa Valley. The climate in Yountville is particularly well-suited for grape growing. It sits in a sweet spot where it receives warm, sunny days perfect for ripening grapes, while cool evening breezes and fog from San Pablo Bay help too.
Let this wine open up and breathe for 2+ hours and you’ll be delighted with a similar complexity to a Cabernet, with Oakey notes and bright raspberry and plum flavors
An excellent choice from the same area as Stag Leap vineyards
Try it and tell me what you think — happy drinking!

Not bad especially with $17 a bottle! Lots of plum, soft tannins, sweet oak. Probably a good amount of Merlot in there.

Smooth, deep color soft tannin at the end.

Jan 4th, 20212018 vintage is a little more sweet/jammy than I expected and like, but for $14.99 I’m not going to complain as much as complement. The wine does what you need it to do. A better than average basic everyday wine.

Oct 16th, 2020Jammy and fruity. Some oak and mocha notes. No tannins to speak of. Easy to drink but not complex
