Combine fruit from 80 year old Tempranillo vines from the northern reaches of Rioja with one of the region’s best winemakers, and what do you get? Answer: a great traditional wine. Torre de Ona is a project of producer Rioja Alta using their northern-most vineyards. Raspberries, cranberries, red fruit, vanilla, coconut dominate the palate with a long layered finish. The long oak aging delivers silky, mature tannins that pull the wine together beautifully. The wine is less ripe with stronger acidity than other Riojas which delivers a unique and delightful character. Very well-made. 2014 vintage on Jun 16, 2019
