Torre Castillo
Alegre Jumilla Monastrell
2013. Under $10, it is hard to find a better value red. Interesting nose of freshly dug soil, minerals, yeasty bread, and blackberry extract. Intense and full, but relatively soft texturally. Got that barky Mourvedre thing, with some nice fruit and clingy dark minerals. I'd rather drink this than a Pibarnon that's less than 20 years old. Nice job.

Apr 2nd, 2015M/m+ ruby. Dark fruit, vanilla, and floral. On the palate, m+ acid and medium textured tannins. Cut off a bit short but a good everyday wine.

Mar 17th, 2015Ok - nice and dry - not a great deal of flavor. Good value for the price.

Jan 5th, 2017Notes of fig and plum. Dark cherry finish. Tasty and affordable on sale!

Jan 5th, 2017Medium body, a bit dry. A little fruity, hints of vanilla. Not earthy. Solid choice at its price, would definitely consider in an occasion where I was going to have more than a couple glasses on an evening!
