Tommasi
A Vintus Selection Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Corvina Blend
Valpolicella, Verona, Veneto, Italy

Drank 10/6/23. Tasting event.
Scents of coffee dominate. Strawberry, cherry, and a bit of earth. Well balanced. Generally amarone is not my cup of tea, but this is quite nice.

Founded in 1902 with a vineyard farmed by Giacomo's grandfather, located in Pedemonte village in northwest part of Verona, today run by the 4th generation of the Tommasi family. A blend of 50% Corvina, 15% Corvinone, 30% Rondinella & 5% Oseleta. Aromas of dried fruits with savory spice notes. On the palate sweet plum and sweet cherry flavors with pepper and cacao. Soft tannins, chewy on lingering finish ending with a fig character.

I love this Amarone! Had the 2009 & 2010 and were both exquisite.

This has a solid structure to last a while. Never had an amarone wine before...really enjoyed it. Could see the score going up after 3-5. Slight oak and good bits of boysenberry on the nose. Chewy cranberries and earthy flavors. Tongue was left with a layer of well balanced juice that coated the mouth. Very enjoyable.

Blew me away, perfectly balanced with notes of dark fruit, underlying tones of some floral notes.
