Tiberio
Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo
Spritzy. Good but not nearly the substance or fruit of the 2018 vintage.

Apr 3rd, 2022Lovely, complex, strawberry-rhubarb richer-style rosé from 55+ year old Montepulciano vines in Abruzzo. High acid, tannins (even from just 20 minute maceration), and big fruit make this a great food pairing wine. For us, it was Sicilian-style seafood risotto; a lighter white may have wilted. Tavel fans will find a new home here.

May 8th, 2021The 2019 Tiberio Cerasuolo is wonderfully fresh and perfumed, showing depths of smoky minerals on the nose, giving way to notes of ripe strawberry and wild flowers, with a hint of crushed limestone and chalk. On the palate, silky textural depths are offset by saline-minerality and brisk acids, as notes of cherry with a hint of orange citrus wash across the senses. The finish is long, with a twang of tart red berry and hints of wild herbs, almost salty, and begging me to take another sip. (Eric Guido, Vinous, May 2020)

May 21st, 2020Luminous pink-red. Bright aromas of red cherry, redcurrant, blood orange and botanical herbs. Then bright and juicy, with laser-like acidity lifting and extending the red fruit flavors on the juicy, long, floral and slightly saline finish. A very precise, seamless Cerasuolo with no hard edges and sneaky concentration. (Ian D'Agata, Vinous, May 2019)

May 22nd, 2019Bright deep pink. Musky aromas and flavors of dried cherry and rhubarb, with hints of licorice and herbs adding complexity. Broad and deep on the palate, displaying a chewy, fleshy texture typical of the hot year but also very good freshness. Finishes with serious grip and lingering florality. (Ian D'Agata, Vinous, June 2018)

Jul 6th, 2018Concentrated pink/purple color. Red cherries, raspberries, black currants, elevated aromatic intensity. Highly acidic and full body. Herbal notes on the finish.

Jun 17th, 2018The 2021 Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo seduces with its perfumed blend of crushed cherries and strawberries, complemented by rhubarb, violets and sweet smoke. It's racy and sleek, built on energy, with a mineral core that grips the palate. A cascade of wild berries is excited by tantalizing acidity. This finishes dramatically long, lightly structured and full of zesty tension as salty nuances combine with tart red fruits and hints of sour citrus. The 2021 takes Cerasuolo to a whole new level. This is more a red than a Rosé, and with a bouquet to match. (Eric Guido, Vinous, May 2023)

1 person found it helpfulJun 1st, 2023This has everything. First, that beautiful dark ruby color. As soon as you bring the glass to your nose you’re hit with beautiful rose petals, cherries and crushed rocks. The palate hits just as hard with a crazy mineral intensity, cherry lozenges, red currants, and wild herbs. Fruity, tart, bitter, mineral and fresh, all at the same time. What’s not to love? Can’t imagine this getting any more delicious but I bet it will age too.
For the price I wouldn’t hesitate to declare this perfect wine.

Totally unexpected depth and minerality greeted me on the nose, showing strawberry, raspberry, wild flowers, chalk dust and crushed stone minerality. On the palate, I found lifted textures, yet with contrasting cherry fruit that saturated the senses and provided grip, while brisk acidity witj hints of blood orange maintained an amazingly fresh experience. It finished with a twang of tart red berry and hints of herbs, yet remarkably fresh. Wow!
