A big thank you to 3 Rings Wines who recently sent over this sample of their 2017 “It’s Magic” Barossa Valley Shiraz to taste. I believe it retails for around the $14-18 mark.

It’s a deep dark red colour in the glass. It definitely has a great colour on it for a ‘17. The nose is full of blackberry pie, chocolate, vanilla and it has a hint of licorice. Berries and spice dominate the palate for me. It’s full bodied, well balanced and perfect for winter. A great value Shiraz!

All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!

Too jammy and dry. Expected a bit more pepper out of a Shiraz. Drinkable, but disappointing. Better at room temp.

Jammy with dark berries, leather and a touch of anise. Australia has fallen off the map but Three Rings brings it back!!

Just what I like in a Shiraz, full bodied and jammy with a little bite.

After a 3 year absence on the shelves it reappeared this past weekend. 3 years ago I would give it a solid 91 maybe a 92. It is now a 85 that creeps up to a 88 after a good hour or more to breath. I miss the old 3 rings
