Cuvee Buster "Les Monts Damnés" Chavignol Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc

Such an underrated wine

Probably the most interesting Sancerre I can recall. Continuously changing with a lot of notes similar to white burgundy.

2013 "Cuvée Buster" from Thomas-Labaille. This Sancerre is lean and super clean and drinks like stony, citrus-tinged mineral water. Delicious.

The peppermint aromas I often find in older Thomas-Labaille Busters, with a little honey and flowers. The age has brought a nice nuttiness on the palate with good fruit. It is in a terrific place right now.

I was all “Imma hold onto this for the long haul” which lasted all of two weeks. Never happens...

Rich with a little roasted lemon, intense with great acidity, white melon and flowers, fabulous but slightly overshadowed by the Clos Roche Blanche.

It's the rare Sauv Blanc that demands cellaring but this is one. Sweet grass and hay on the nose, candied lemon, white peach and rocks, shimmering acidity. More to give in a couple years I think. Buster must have been a hell of a dog.

Crunchy

Pure deliciousness. Pineapple and citrus. Just a hint of green touch. Warm and not too much acidity. Long finish.
