Another impressive PN from the Santa Cruz Mountains. I’m beginning to believe that this is, in fact, the best area for Pinot in all of California. Yes, even better than the Sonoma Coast. This wasn’t as interesting or nuanced as McHenry but it’s still distinctive in very positive ways. Good amount of wild strawberries and some darker forest fruits with some pie spice, forest floor and finishes with that characteristic acid that I absolutely love.

The 2015 Pinot Noir Rapley Trail Vineyard is one of the most reticent and tightly wound wines in this lineup. Saline and focused to the core, the 2015 is a Pinot build on mineral-driven intensity. Readers will have to give the 2015 at least a few years to unwind. There is plenty of potential, but the 2015 Rapley is in no mood to show it today. The long, beautifully persistent finish hints at a bright future. In 2015, Fogarty did not bottle any of their single block wines from Rapley Trail. All of the fruit went into this, the main Pinot off the site. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, September 2018)

Been a tough work week for myself and the wife, what better way to relax than a wine from where we were married! This wine amazes me, great earth and spice and so balanced, one of the best SCM Pinots out there!

Full, and powerful, but maintaining lots of cut and acidity. Very savory. Just beginning to show hints of tertiary development.

What a treat! THIS is THE appellation for California pinot noir and this single vineyard gem is delicious and soulful!

Really great to taste this wine for the first time in about a year. This wine is definitely still improving. Very intense. Deep incense-like aromatics, lavender, violet, red to slightly darker fruit. Not quite as complex as the Windy Hill vineyard of the same vintage.

Has everything that makes Santa Cruz Pinot so awesome. Red/dark fruits, earth and distinctive mountain spice. Gotta love the direction of the winemaking. Highly recommended.
