Thibault Liger-Belair
Richebourg Pinot Noir
Thick and earthy. The whole texture is weighty. Acidity is not there, at least not enough to hold the massive structure. Disappointing.

Oct 11th, 2021Stunning. Delicious. Epitome of Grand Cru red Burgundy. Complexity, nuance, balance, class, length. In a great spot now but has the stuff to go decades. Everything you would hope it would be.

Apr 29th, 2020No. 3 in the Vosne Romanee Grand Cru bracket. Tasted blind. My notes:- A lovely perfume with cherry , smokiness (like La Romanee - Is smokiness a Liger-Belair thing in 2016?), and a touch of barnyard which in no way detracts. Gorgeous. Later - barnyard still there.

Jan 28th, 2020Very intense nose. Wood nicely integrated still very much primary fruit flavors: cherry, strawberries. Nice burn, good salinity. Elegant effort unlike many austere les saints-george’s.

Aug 9th, 2019From a cellar that had a brief temperature malfunction which I bought on the secondary market thru old friend Peter Scudamore-Smith MW. From the excellent 2005 vintage in Burgundy. Peter advised it should be good just don’t Cellar as long as you normally would for Richebourg. This was Excellent Mid to rich crimson in colour. Bouquet of Loam and black cherry with some forest floor notes. The palate was sumptuous showing both power and restraint if that makes sense. With my limited tasting experience with Richebourg with DRC Jean Grivot and one Leroy I formed the view that they are RICH!particularly the 1999 DRC - well named as Richebourg. With time in decanter it formed a minty note. This Wine was well mannered knew it’s place and drinking at its peak given its provenance. A thrilling experience. Thibault Liger-Belair has a mere 0.55 Hectares in Richebourg. Note to Delectable- The Producer is based in Nuits St Georges but the wine is from Vosne Romanee as classified under Taste Insights.

1 person found it helpfulFeb 22nd, 2016Purchased at a discount from a private cellar where the temp control went awry. All I can say is it must have been minor as this wine was a powerhouse in line with Richebourgs I have had from DRC. Subdued beginning after decanting but opened up progressively with notes of pepper and ripe plums - not normal Burgundian descriptors. Asian spices developing. Dark and Intense in color and palate. Fabulous wine with Duck. Next one in a few years. 2005 vintage.
