The Prisoner Wine Company
Eternally Silenced Napa Valley Pinot Noir Syrah
Napa Valley, California, USA
Has a nice fragrance of dark cherry and jam.
Drinks well and is fruit forward with flavors of dark cherries, jam and spice. Given time to breathe, it finishes smoothly!

I popped and poured, and was initially disappointed. But after 3+ hours open and a 30 minute chill in the fridge, this really came alive. Perfumed raspberry, tart, herbal and elegant. Had it with homemade cashew chicken, and the acidity really cut through the sweetness of the dish. Love the bottle design with an outrageous amount of wax 😱

It seems all the 2018 reviews are from a couple years ago, and I bet they'd go up a point or 2 if they were drinking it now in 2026. This wine is very good, and I think the Syrah is helping it shine at 8 years of age. Nice dark cherries, plums, a touch of spice. Well balanced. I'm not a big fan of The Prisoner, but I'm a fan of this.

A good wine, but not quite as good as I expected. Certainly solid. It went well with both the elk steaks and the marinated salmon we paired it with.

Had it couple weeks ago at a friend’s house and it felt closed and watered down, not exactly the type of wine Prisoner would make, so I opened my own.
If tasted blind, I would think this is a Garnacha, given its medium to full body. The 5% Syrah in this bottling is uncommon, possibly contributing to the subtle gamey and peppery notes? Darker fruits on the nose. Round acidity. Candied strawberry on the finish.
Really nice.

Overpriced over-saturated over alcohol
Some interesting elements underneath but needs to settle down or it is a headache inducing wine
