The Prisoner Wine Company
Blindfold California Chardonnay Blend
Though not a huge fan of the Prisoner red blend, I do like this chard leading field blend a lot. Interwoven tropical, citrus, and stone fruits drive the aromatic nose with subtle minerality. Hint of white flower and honeydew too. Juicy and round acidity. A rich palate was expected, but with a delicate feel. Really nice!

Oct 13th, 2019Body of a Chardonnay, but rounder with more acidity. A great example of what can be achieved with blending.

Nov 11th, 2018As a result of all the different varieties blended in here(chard with white rhones and aromatics) this wine has a really cool complexity on the nose.
Grilled pineapple with white pepper and lychee. Vanilla, soap, salt. We are right on the edge of how much oak in a chard that I can tolerate, and I believe that to be a conscious decision. They purposely didn't bury the subtleties of this wine with oak. It plays as much of an influence as the supporting varietals. The pallatte brings a great balance of acid, salt, cream, and fruit. It has a little of the disjointed feeling, but altogether it's a nice experience. A little surprised here, my expectations were low but the wine caught up to it's pricetag.

Very good, easy to drink on its own, but would certainly hold up to a variety of foods ... would be quite good with fish. On the nose - initial strong notes of apricot and possibly pineapple, more subtle notes of green apple, peach, and purple grape. On the palette - quite fruity, relatively long finish. Maybe a bit of fig taste. Comes across as sweet but in further thought is rather off dry. Creamy in the mouth. Strong mandarin flavor.
