Last night we opened the 2016 Jonata The Paring Red Blend. From Buellton, California a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 20% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot.
On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, plum, black currant, roses, chocolate, spice, graphite and dark earth.
On the palate is black cherry, blackberry, plum, green bell pepper, black currant, herbaceous, spice, licorice and earth.
This is a great QPR full bodied wine with a smooth velvety mouthfeel medium + acidity and medium to medium+ fine supple tanninsthat moves into a medium + to long dark fruit herbaceous finish. It looks as though spring is on our doorstep, we had 70 degree weather today and for the Chicago area that is a thing. What a beautiful day and I hope everyone is experiencing the same.
