The Ojai Vineyard
White Hawk Vineyard Syrah
Bought from the RH list in Yountville. Bright and vibrant. Sweet fruit forward nose. Very floral. Notes of raspberries and a little soil. A nice option next to the Cote-Rotie for a little comparison.

Aug 12th, 2019Some of the best domestic qpr Syrah out there. Super fine tannin with blue and blackberry and some smoked meat.

Nov 10th, 2020One of the most underrated Syrah producers. More SQN like, without the big body, than most other Syrahs. Absolutely lovely.

Sep 19th, 2020In honor of our best friends who gifted us this excellent bottle several years ago. Many congrats and love to my man @Kevin Løk who I have been lucky to spend the majority of the last 16 years hanging out and having good times with. This wine has notes of perseverance and well-earned success for Kevin and Caroline. You will be dearly missed.

Apr 26th, 2020Hailing from one of my favourite (sandy) sites in Santa Barbara County I was excited to try this wine. Mainly because I really want to find a wine that I hate made by Adam Tolmach. This wasn’t it. The guy is a pro and there’s no doubt that I’m jealous of him. This wine needed time to open in the glass. Caught at a slightly awkward stage I’d like to revisit this wine to witness the evolution with age. Wet dirt and dark berries are the way to my Syrah lovin’ heart.

Jan 20th, 2018Been hunting Ojai Syrahs for a while, and worth the effort. This had nicely mellowed with age to well balanced, mildly spicy rich dark fruit with a nice inner sweetness. Mouthfilling with good length, along with the Halcon Alturas I had recently, this is the first Cali Syrah I’ve enjoyed. Have I found my spot on the Central Coast?
