The Mascot
Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
This was a solid bottle, red and blue fruits, medium plus tannins, medium acidity, well structured and a delight to drink.

Mar 28th, 2021It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here is a delicious one.
Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Full-bodied, yet elegant, with nice complexity and mouthfeel.
Dry and very fruity on the palate.
Showing blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, vanilla, spices, espresso, cola, light herbs, earth, chocolates, coffee, tobacco leaf and peppercorn.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.
What a great Cabernet Sauvignon from the great 2014 vintage. Smooth, soft and rich with a nice nose. Tangy and interesting.
Will continue to age nicely in the next 5 to 10 years.
This 8 year old is drinking wonderfully right out of the bottle, but better with some air time.
I had the 2013 vintage a year or so ago, and it was even better than the 2014.
Good by itself or with food. A great sipping wine by the porch.
A blend of mainly Cabernet Sauvignon grapes with some Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
14.8% alcohol by volume.
93 points.
$170.

Feb 12th, 2023Big wine. Young. A bit muted on the nose. Tastes of blackberries, plum, dark cherry, cedar, vanilla, espresso bean, dark chocolate, graphite. Thick grippy tannins, all around well structured. Nice long finish. ‘14s drinking nice now but lot of life left in these bottles.

Jan 13th, 2023Is there such a thing as a lighter Harlan wine?!? After a short decant the tannic structure remains present but not overly so. Dark fruit and graphite in the glass. Very enjoyable!

Nov 6th, 2022Same comments as before. A really good wine the ‘14.

Sep 2nd, 2022Pretty much same comments as before. Been about 10 months since my last bottle of the ‘14. But I recently had the ‘16 for the first time, and now comparing the two the ‘16 is a good bit more open and drinkable now. The ‘14 still tight and not as polished as the ‘16. Still a great wine and I look forward to more bottles in the years ahead.
