Tonight we are having a very aromatic Chardonnay from the Napa Valley. The 2012 Hess Collection.
On the nose there is wonderful fruit of lemon, Pear, citrus peel, honeysuckle, jasmine, white flowers, wet rocks and minerality.
On the palate is lemon, green apple, Pear, a hint of butter and minerality. There is a medium acidity and a nice viscous mouth feel.
For the price not a bad quaffer.

Grapefruit jumps out first then comes apple, pear, some banana and then vanilla. On the palate I get the apple and pear come forward from the nose and then we get melon. The vanilla with some oak and a touch of butter come in at the end. There is also a medium acidity but not where I like it. This bottle was purchased for $19.99. I can say this is nice and drinkable but not exciting.

Airy flow, quick to dry. Quite heavy with food. Short lived fullness, drink quickly after popping open.

On the palate, it feels disconnected, remote as though separated by an oil layer that only lets a slight sweetness and a not so pleasant bitterness appear on the tongue. Astonishingly full-bodied, oily. Harsh finish. Interesting, though not fun to drink.
