1997 vintage showing very very well. Smooth tannins good fruit and a medium plus finish. The fruits were dark currents and cassis.

1997 mt grown fruit - it's showing beautifully. Aromatic spice-box, tobacco berry nose. Still youthful and tannic.

Wow. 21 years old - this wine could legally drink itself - and would be making an excellent choice. Classic aromatics of an aged CA cab, this wine has great balance, amazing secondary flavors, and a flavor profile that is just awesome with hints of dried currants and leather. Totally reconfirms that The Hess Collection was a totally underappreciated winery (at least in the 90s). No point letting this sit any longer - definitely on the downslope - but this is seriously impressive stuff!

Showing it's age. Got a little better with some air but it's all prunes in the nose with a heavy balsamic finish. Knew it was a risk when I bought it. As Lemmy says- you win some you lose some it's all the same to me.

Very very smooth & full bodied. Went well with the beef Wellington. Would order again for a grilled porterhouse as well.

'97 from mid level Napa producer. Opening up nicely. I'm surprised it has so much life. Fruit light tannins. Time to drink
