The Eyrie Vineyards
Yamhill Carlton Muscat Ottonel
Bought at winery. Listed as a “dry white table wine”, 12% alc/vol. Pale yellow white, excellent clarity. Floral and nutty (almond) notes in nose. Lemon pith and almond flavors, subtle overall, rounded mouthfeel, mild skin astringency on finish. Good acidity. Limited Muscat expression here, but this varietal may simply differ from other Muscats. First time I’ve had Muscat Ottonel. Wikipedia claims it is a cross between Chasselas and Muscat de Saumur.

Dec 3rd, 2019Still misspelled by Delectable but anyway, looks, smells, and at first tastes like its over the hill. Then within several minutes it resembles great, dry, unfortified Sherry, which some will appreciate.

Mar 3rd, 2018The last of the Eyrie Muscat, sadly. Super aromatic, peaches, passion fruit, tropical fruits, but dry on the palate and finish with good acidity.
