This was one of those smoke em you got em moments! I came home from work and my boyfriend had pulled this out of the wine fridge at first I was like no way we are saving that ... then I thought better of it! Wine certainly brings some real extra special joy right now! Eyrie is one of my all-time favorite Oregon producers and these old vine bottlings are amazing! The 2014 is tasting great right now but I’m sure it could age 10 more years easily!! Classic Oregon: crunchy red fruit and earth and pretty flowers!

Grapefruit and burned sugar. An odd nose and palate. Maybe a slightly off bottle?

The best 2012 Oregon Pinot I have tasted to date. Reduced at first but with aeration showed a multifaceted bouquet of red cherries , blood orange , pomegranate with a savoy/ saline component accented by red flower nuances . The palate is in prefect harmony with good acidity that keeps the wine fresh focused and precise. Does not have the heaviness that most 2012s do. A stunning bottle and worth the effort to find . From vines planted between 1967 and 1973.

A bit surly at first but quickly comes around. Dazzles not with flashy fruit or trashy oak but with roiling layers of richness.

Light and showing funky secondary aromas on day one. On day two it gained weight, texture, and bright fruit aromas. The wine is less than clear, pale, and bloody in color. I'm mesmerized.
