Full without being overpowering. Big nose that was complex and kept me coming back. There is tobacco on this nose along with red fruit. Deep red and black fruit on the palate that make my mouth water (ie good acid). This was day two. I'll add to the review tomorrow if Michael doesn't finish the bottle before I get home!

Wines like this are stitched in my fabric. Larry was KEY in establishing my love affair with SB. This wine reminds me of that first spark. Smoky, raspberry, with hint of pine. Nose screams SB Grenache. Completely consistent with nose with added tapenade. As you introduce oxygen, the Viognier floral notes spring up. Gives impression it's going to be a big wine until an orange acid streak rings through palate as it goes down. Definitely has some nice, silky tannin structure. But typical Schaffer style. There's a nimbleness. Well done, my friend.

"this 2015 Verbiage Rouge is a wild beast of a wine, after 42 months of aging in French oak. Note the bramble fruit, earth, and tea leaves in the nose. The blend hit their peak after a second on the palate. Enjoy the long finish.

(2012 vintage)Nose is redundant of black pepper, dry leaves, and rich soil. Maybe blueberry shrubs? Palate has a good bit of heat, lots of sun-warmed earthiness. Some dark fruit high notes, but very restrained. This may get more interesting as time passes... My inner Rhône Ranger is pleased!
