Past it’s peak. Black olive, balsamic. V soft tannins, still retained some acidity

The Nardi Brunello Di Montalciano 2008 evokes a warm, still afternoon in a deciduous forest, the sort where you can hear twigs snapping under your feet. Splendid, woodsy aromas of forest floor, brambles, dried leaves, mushrooms, and dried black cherries. Silky and voluptuous on the palate, with firm, polished tannins that plunge into the substrata—densely packed layers of calcareous earth, sandstone, and marl surface against a backdrop of black fruit. Dried herbs, cedar and tobacco on a lingering finish.

Had this February 23rd 2015. Strong mineral notes upfront on the nose and palate with bright fruit and high acid.

I must say that it didn’t agree with me... light and it’s a dry mistela! Just a bottle before the first family skiing trip

Found at charming "Stowe Wine and Cheese" shop in Vermont, this great Brunello is from the stellar 2010 vintage. Silvio Nardi, in the NW part of Montalcino, makes wine with grapes from different parts of the region. Bright red color with hint of brick orange; nose is full of red fruit, delicious herbs and mint; taste is powerful yet delicate, with silky tannins, high acids, orange peel, and a moderate-length finish with some soothing chestburn at the very end (14.5%). Won't touch my other bottles for many years.

2nd time I've had this wine and it always has a musty taste to me. Tannins are gripping, fruit is great but a minute in the glass that disappears and you have that musty taste. Tannins remain.

This wine leans towards the dark side, old world all the way. Dried dark fruits, tar, savory herbs, toasted fennel seed, decayed/dried purple flowers. Taste is all around big, long finish with a little warmth from the alcohol. Certainly a wine like this you want to eat with some food, very high acid, think braised dishes like veal shanks, ratatouille & polenta, or your nonnas braciole ey.

Loads of blue fruit. Tannins are still a bit rowdy on the finish. Well done overall for 2009. Wish I had a few more bottles to cellar.
