Tenuta Sant'Antonio
Selezione Antonio Castagnedi Amarone della Valpolicella Corvina Blend
She’s deep and dark, full of ink and dried blackberry, but there’s something playful here—this wine is quintessential perky-goth wheee you’re like “are they that morbid or is that a smile I just saw on the dance floor when Annie Lennox started playing”? Full of chocolate and dried and stewed berries but also fresh herbs. Par for the course 15% abv but that’s tame in Amarone-land. I like this a lot. Now making dinner so the 15% doesn’t have its way with me before there is food in my belly.

Jul 30th, 2024Just aged a tad too long. The first 90% of notes are delicious but the ending is bitter. Shame.

Aug 13th, 2022An Amarone I can get behind. Not as massive as many. Despite its 11 years, the nose shows beautiful fruit, rich but not too pruney. Secondary notes of mahogany and leather. In the mouth, it’s got loads of port-like flavor in a full but not blowsey way. Ends long and dry. Still got some tannin, but it’s soft and well integrated. Nice job.

Full-bodied together with ripe blackberry, sweet resin, grilled ginkgo, and black pepper on the palate. Complex with smooth & firm tannins, solid texture, and nice long length on the finish. Like it a lot.
