Wow, a true Sicilian beauty. Corinto Nero! New fave variety; this is like a crazy mashup of the best m of three of my favorite red grapes. It has the complex red berry-fruited tension of Spanish Garnacha, the bloody minerality of Cornas Syrah, and the plain elegance of 1er cru Burgindy. Long juicy finish, generous, fantastic value.

I do love an island wine. The hint of salinity is a nice add to the light, bright fruit and flowers.

Really unique. Nose has dark boysenberry fruit, tons of smoky minerals, violets. Velvety soft in the mouth. Everything in balance. Fruit, stony, slightly smoky, noticeably saline minerality. Good acids. A lot in common with some of the more restrained examples coming off Etna.

Corinto/Nero d'Avola blend. Black cherry, dried strawberry, white pepper, barnyard, saline, sulfur, violets. Perfect acid/smooth velvet tannin balance, silky texture, dry mineral/herbal finish.

Very round, above average acidity with luscious cherry and a distinct murkiness. Almost dirty. Descent tannins, rustic. Like a mature Bordeaux???

Ouf. And wowza. The wine to drink after a beheading.

Comes into its own on night two. Black fresh fruit, aromatic (orange peel, hot rocks, and rose water) with some of that ethereal aromatic character that Etna Rosso has, but in a more grounded, less high-wire way.

This definitely does not suck. Has reached a nice equilibrium of secondary fruit flavors, velvety tannins, and a youthful streak. Quite nice.

Smells like groin in the best way possible, replete with rich, velvet fruit

Great wine. From a small volcanic island off Sicily. Dark color. Smoky charcoal embers, dark minerals, and winey macerated black cherry fruit. Mouthfilling and rich, but buoyed up by an incredible piercing mineral streak. Looong finish with excellent acidity. Blind I would have said old school Barolo. Not even close!
