On Friday I had the pleasure of enjoying the 2014 Tenuta dell' Ornellia "Ornellaia" Bolgheri. 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 20% Petit Verdot and 14% Cabernet Franc. This is the second Ornellaia I have had the pleasure of tasting. The first was the 2013 which was smoother and a bit more in tune yet both very smooth and enjoyable.
The nose of the 2014 has notes of black cherry, blackberry, plum, black currant, lilac, clove, iron, oak and nice earthiness.
On the palate was black cherry, blackberry, plum, black currant, sage, leather, graphite and smoky oak.
This wine is medium in body, medium + acidity, medium + smooth tannins that leads to a long fruity finish. An enjoyable wine yet a bit young that has at least 20 years to go. Enjoy your weekend and be safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Nose reminiscent of the LeSerre Nuove, but x 2. Flowers, leather, earth, and red fruits. Red fruits, blackberry, and currants, with leather and tobacco flavors on the palate. Full bodied with well integrated tannins. Beautiful wine. Could age for many years. WOTN for me, among several nice Italians.
