Santa Barbara County White Blend

Rhône white blend on Cali steroids. Plush, rich and weighty. Nearly 10 years in, you can’t touch this in terms of quality and value. Oily, viscous and decadent with notes of roasted pineapples, white cherries and marzipan complementing very soft acidity and exaggerated sweetness. This is high-octane fuel.

Just an incredible value. Don’t know of many California wines at sub $20 that can touch this American “mostly Rhône” beauty!

Lush flavors of apricot, melon, and creme brûlée. Complex, crisp, and creamy. Blend of Viognier, Rousanne, Grenache Blanc, and Chardonnay. Masterfully done, and just reinforces my belief that Grenache Blanc can do amazing things - but as a blending grape. Still fairly easy to find despite the WS Top 100 rating.

Tasty, almost Sauternes like. Has the positive qualities of Sauternes on the nose. Blown out and most likely due to heatwave damage as well as style on the palate. Still delicious enough. For $12 at Costco, it’s great.

This in our mind is a special white wine Rhône example from Cali. Unctuous, dense, and packed with exotic fruits. While it lacks acidity, this oily, viscous example will cellar for at least another 5 years, but I don’t see it further improving.

Our besties gifted us this fun wine parka - very cool 😎
I hate drinking this wine cos it makes me feel good, then I forget stuff. In this case, I forgot to post it. Which brought front of mind a quote from Oscar Wilde:
“When I was younger, I could remember anything, whether it happened or not, but I’m getting old, and soon I shall only remember the latter.”

Just excellent, and improving with age.
Exotic and viscous Rhône white blend, with tropical notes of pineapple, almonds and white pepper. Oily mouthfeel, finishing sweet with wispy acidity. At $22, this is a no-brainer.

Another @David L proposal, which is excellent - thank you. It has many similarities with a white Rhône, but I find it more accessible and appealing. The Viognier in the blend takes center stage, while the Grenache brings the texture and stone fruits. Would love to taste this 5 years from now, but it’s already gulpable.
Renovations update - another wall removed, and eyeing up replacing the 2nd flight of stairs...
