Telmo Rodriguez,Gago G, from Toro, Spain. 2017 vintage. Made of Tinta de Toro (local Tempernillo)and Albiño Mayor. Brilliant red color, delicate nose of light dill, black fruits and vanilla notes. Good structure, balanced, chewy. Went well with the Sinta steak.

On opening, the nose was really interesting. Some definite barrel funk, pepper, spice, Cassis and cherry. After an hour or so the funk blew off and the fruit become more forward. An awesome palate, medium to full bodied, lots of black fruits. Amazingly long finish with plenty of tannin left to go another 5 years.
