Still big after 9 years. Pepper, dark fruit - a bit astringent, but nice.

This wine really opened up even after a short time in the cellar. The spice popped up from within a mix of rich, red fruit and clove. There are subtleties in this wine that require much more insight.

Say hello to the World’s Greatest Shiraz’ 2020 Winestate Magazine “Category winner for the $40-$45 Winestate World’s Greatest Shiraz & Syrah Challenge 2020“ 👋🏻 😍

I just love sitting back with a big glass of great red wine to end the day, who else does?

I didn’t write a tasting note for this Taltarni 2018 Pyrenees Estate Shiraz from Victoria as I just enjoyed it! The baby was asleep and Mr Spittoon and had a chance to slow down and enjoy some chill out time - so why not do it with the Worlds Greatest Shiraz right 😜

A big thanks to Taltarni for sending over this #freesample. We enjoyed every last drop 💧.

Here’s their tasting note for it and they describe its deliciousness so well:

“With a deep red colour and violet hue, the 2018 Pyrenees Estate Shiraz emanates aromas of red berries and light spices with earthy tones. This aroma is balanced perfectly with a medium-bodied wine that is equally rich in flavour. The addition of Mourvèdre into the blend enhances the spice and the drive along the backbone of the palate. The dark forest fruits and subtle oak flavours complement the persistent dusty tannins and chocolate notes on the finish.“

This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.

All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!

96 Points in the 2020 Halliday Wine Companion, Gold Medal at the 2019 Royal Adelaide Wine Show and a Gold Medal at the 2019 Rutherglen Wine Show are just some of the accolades this Taltarni Vineyards 2017 Old Vine Estate Shiraz has received 🤩 Wow!

A big thank you to Taltarni for sending over this #freegift. Mr Spittoon and I cracked it once the little one was in bed.

The vines from which this Shiraz come from where planted in the 1960s - so you’re looking at 50-60 year old grape vines. Prior to release this wine spent 18 months in French oak.

We found it a pretty garnet shade in the glass with juicy black currant, black cherries and pepper spice on the nose. In the mouth it’s super smooth with juicy plump fruit and a spicy bite on the finish. Mr Spittoon and I thoroughly enjoyed it 🍷
