Aromas of earth, spice and blackcurrants on a rustic, savoury palate of dark berry and plum fruits. Lively tannins grace a persistent finish. A very good all round Shiraz.

Nice to come across a Shiraz that keeps itโ€™s tannis in check. Dark fruit, earth, dust of leather.

Tasted over several hours and the #tannins never felt right. too gritty, sandy & drying. wonder if this will relax with a bit more cellar time...?

Next up on my Australia's First Families of Wine Aussie Shiraz journey is the Tahbilk 2014 Shiraz. This is part of the 'Australian Shiraz Showcase' from Wine Selectors which you can read more about on the blog: travellingcorkscrew.com.au/blog/australias-first-families-of-wine

We matched this delicious little number up with some Smokey Pork Tacos ๐ŸŒฎ Yes this is the second time I've made this recipe in the last 2 weeks! Pork is a really good match for Shiraz I've found, and the smokey nuances in this dish really complimented the wine.

It's a deep ruby red colour in the glass with notes of cassis, violets and black pepper on the nose. That cracked black pepper flows through to the palate with plentiful notes of berries, plums and cherries ๐Ÿ’. The finish is long and tannin infused. Very enjoyable.

PS: If you like white wine and haven't tried the Tahbilk Marsanne - do it now!

All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! #sample #tcweekdaywine

Plum, blackberry, black pepper, eucalyptus, some oak spice. Very juicy on the palate with ripe fruit, med acidity and soft tannin. Hints of oak. Quite elegant overall.

Very impressed with this producer so far. Very balanced and drinkable with some spicy varietal typicity as well.

Cherry, caramel, vanilla, leather, apple, slight banana (potassium), sweet BBQ - YES that many scents in the nose. Amazing, but not as impressive on the tongue. Very nice, but this wine needs more time, but, Iโ€™ve never smelled a nose like this.

Hasn't managed to hang onto the fruit after 9 years. Good wine, just lacking the punch you'd want from the price tag. I wouldn't be aging this further.
