7 Fuentes Valle de la Orotava Listan Negro-Tintilla Blend
My first Tenerife wine. Listan negro is the dark-skinned version of Palomino of Sherry, and Tintilla is probably Grenache. I was blown away with the price-vs-quality of this wine which was balanced and aromatic and revealed interesting notes on nose and palate including candied fruit, raspberry, herbs, white pepper, and a moderate oak profile.

BRAVO!
Sorry but this just hits to close to home ... On the nose is spicy but flowery with that smell so characteristic of the wet and dark cellars of my childhood. Wood, tabaco, jasmine, pepper, clove... in the palate high tannins with a well balanced acidity and a long mineral finish with a twist. Black berry, dark cherry, tea, spices, minerals, coffee, smoke, pine and retama ... What a treat ! ... Amazing wine.
