Jun 6th, 2018Light gold. Honeyed with floral notes. A rich, soft middle. Still dynamic. Rhône like but luxurious.

Jun 6th, 2018Tasted blind. Medium gold color. Looks older. Notes of dried apricots and beeswax. In the mouth it's nicely rich, but there's no significant acidity to balance against the fruit. We are all convinced this isn't Chardonnay. I guess 70's Bordeaux Blanc. No, its (old) CA Chardonnay. Interesting data point.

Jan 28th, 2018One of the nastiest corks I've ever pulled with obvious signs of seepage, but decent fill level. Smelled and tasted horrible upon opening and I thought this was dead. With just a few minutes of air this really started come together though. Peaked about two hours in. Deep golden color. Nutty, yeasty, honeyed. Really complex and elegant old chard (I love that this is labelled as "pinot chardonnay"). I've been hearing about old Stony Hill for years and I'm glad I finally got to try one. It didn't disappoint.
