Stoniers entry level Chardonnay and Great QPR. From the excellent slightly warmer vintage this wine had a nice combination of citrus and Grapefruit but more of the riper stone fruit Peach flavours. Well balanced oak. Short term keeper.

Did a museum-release tasting at Stonier today - they had a rare back-vintage sale. This was immediately good, and is a massive pleasure to drink. You'd have to be OK with aged malo characters but this has sweet fruit, winemaking choices just right for balance and complexity and a lovely feel, weight and length.

Always such a pleasing Chardonnay. Nose strays towards atypical tropical notes of melon and quince from this year that saw a hot end to vintage. But the palate has the usual restrained generosity, with purpose. That purpose seems to be drinkability and the oak (very little new French and quite a large proportion of puncheons) and malo (40%) work perfectly. Great structure and with slight softness that does't deny a certain crispness to the finish. V good.

Sometimes I wonder how many people un-follow me because I’m always posting about #Chardonnay 🤔

I wonder for a second, then I pour myself another glass of Chardy and start writing my next post on it 😂

This bottle of Stonier 2019 Chardonnay from the Mornington Peninsula I received as a #freegift from the lovely folk at Dialogue PR (thank you 😘). And it lasted about a day unopened in our house.

It has spent some time on French oak, about 50% of the wine underwent malolactic fermentation and it was all matured for 10 months prior to being released to really let those aromas and flavours shine. It retails for $25.

From it’s pale yellow colour in the glass to the gorgeous aromas of freshly cut nectarines, peaches, spiced pear and lemon - this Chardonnay is a beauty! In the mouth it’s super fresh yet it has a light syrupy and juicy texture. Darn easy to swallow if I do say so 😋

This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.

All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!

Yes I know.. a lot of tasting notes have been going up lately (which must mean one thing) but between building a new website and remembering to breathe - believe me, I need wine by 8pm!

This Mornington Peninsula Chardonnay from Stonier was a Dan Murphy’s purchase for $22 from memory.

Stonier started up in 1978, so 40 years ago now and is one of the founding wineries on the Peninsula. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are the core focus of the winery. I knew I’d picked well 😉

It’s a mesmerising yellow shade on the eye with butterscotch and lychee coming through on the nose and a whiff of cooling mint. In the mouth it’s creamy, juicy and plush with delectable tastes of lemon acidity and crunchy apple refreshing my very spoilt taste buds.
