Stift Klosterneuburg
St. Laurent
Der erste Schluck ist eher enttäuschend. Schmeckt fruchtig aber leer. Schade für einen 2011. Aber ich gebe diesem Wein ein wenig Luft.

Sep 18th, 2019A wine that was popular all over Europe several centuries ago, now primarily only drunk in Austria. Similar to Pinot noir, but with more fruit and oak. Really excellent!

May 8th, 2019First world problems: How do I sell (disclaimer) this wonderful St. Laurent, which I would drink any day over many things of similar price and with almost any food that accompanies good red wines, from a 900-year-old Austrian winery that almost no one has ever heard of? This wine is exquisite and should be shared among friends on both formal and casual occasions.

Deep ruby to dark garnet, St. Laurent Ausstich is "selection of the best barrels of the vintage". Smoked cherries, herbs and forest berries dominate on the bouquet. Palate is juicy, with chokeberries and soft wooden tartness, slightly straight. Sour cherry and oak hints on meduim length finish. Overall - pretty nice wine with velvety structure, balanced and elegant to some extent. Suits roe deer sliced and cooked in onion sauce.
