Could be the bottle but a bit thin and lacking mid-palate. Beautiful aromatics reminiscent of a left bank Bordeaux. Drink now if you have them!

Probably would not win another Judgement of Paris. Aromas are way too mature for an '01.

Good 'ok Cask 23, old school in style, best bottle yet and this easily has another 10 years left. SLWC did not follow the fruit bomb route most in Napa did and now I am rewarded for that. If you have any pop it now as its in a great place. Barely showing age at the rim this has a med-deep red core. The nose is mostly mature with fall leaves, cigar box, roasted herbs, but the fruit is youthful with bing cherry and luscious currants. The palate is classic Stag's Leap with silky and a tad dusty medium+ tannins. The fruit is persistent and the finish is long and fresh. Awesome finale for me on this wine (for now)!

Awesome. Chocolate on the back end leather on the nose. Lots of fruit and a little heat on the finish.

As I had but a sip of this wine I don’t feel comfortable giving it an actual rating. That being said, it was delicious. The nose bursts fourth with tobacco, black currant, menthol and a bit of VA. I expected that funky acidity to cross over to the palette, but it did not. Smooth, round and beautifully vibrant for an ‘01, rich black fruits and dark chocolate were some of the highlights. Wish I had more.

Signed by the wine maker - and the bottle was, to my devastation, corked :(
