Rutherford Estate Chardonnay

This aged just beautifully. Perfect with a cheese course and just stayed strong the entire night. Flashes of a nice aged grand cru. So happy this wasn’t past its prime.

Aged too long in the half bottle. Almonds, roasted marshmallow.

For me, the best Napa Chard made year in and year out.

Color, acid, fruit all in balance. 375 and years to go

Beautifully mature. Golden color but NOT oxidized. Out of magnum.

The only Chardonnay grown in Rutherford? This one shows well with rich, ripe flavors and rich cream.

Spectacular. Almost like a blend of Napa and Carneros Chard and White Burgundy. Bravo! In magnum. Not a hint of oxidation.

Rutherford Chardonnay?!?!? Yes! Amazing? YES!!!

Another killer Wednesday Wine Committee lineup. As always, 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds and 1 dessert wine. All tasted blind.

I called this Napa chardonnay. Oak driven on the nose with a lot of savory notes...sea salt, popcorn kernel roasted lemon. Very waxy on the palate, which resembled a CdP Blanc along with low acidity. I’d drink up, but certainly not over the hill.

Out of magnum. This is what great Napa Chardonnay can be after almost a decade. Truly beautiful.
