See previous note from October 2021. Very oaky ripe Barossa Shiraz. Sawn sweet wood notes on nose and palate. Blackberry and black cherry. Works ok in winter but you couldn’t enjoy this on a hot day. Too much mocha oak.

At 9 years of age this wine is still too oaky. This is an old school Barossa Shiraz with very ripe fruit and lashings of oak. Progressive winemakers like Standish and also Pannell have moved on from this stereotype. A palate of sweet blackberry fruit and vanillan oak. I have one left. Not sure if I will leave the last one for 5 years to see if the oak has integrated.

Dense plum and blackcurrent big bodied firm tannins. Acidity sticks out a bit though? Would be amazing in 10 yrs, big decant to drink now

Great little half bottle from a cellar door purchase. Why don't we see more half bottles around? Clean, dense, balanced black and plummy fruit. Good structure, 4 hr decant.

1996: Good structure, fruit still present - fine, powdery tannin - not totally dropped out. Spice(?) 91

Revisiting after reading JH 97. Don't get that. While good, am less impressed than last time and got bit distracted by the youthful acidity. Gave it 6 hrs in decanter and it just didn't open up like I thought it might .. Maybe it really just needs cellar time. Plum, blackberry, chocolate, big.
