St. Francis Winery
Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon
Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Fruity nose with black fruits, light oak, chocolates and light mildew.
Medium plus in body and elegant, with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, light cedar, vanilla, licorice, light herbs, tobacco, cola, light vegetables and black pepper.
Nice finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.
This 9 year old might be a tad past its peak, but it gave it an interesting aged Bordeaux feel.
Showing nice complexity at this point. Fruit forward, tangy and easy drinking.
Good right out of the bottle, and better with airtime. Needed 20 minutes of airtime to remove some of the funky notes, and gets earthier as it opens up.
I actually liked it more than I thought I would.
14.8% alcohol by volume.
91 points.
$20 (current vintage).

Deep Ruby color with aromas of dark black fruits, herb and pepper spice, fruit from both estate vineyards in the Russian River Valley, Dry Creek and Alexander valleys. On the palate flavors of blackberry and plum with espresso, leather, tobacco and black pepper. Firm tight tannins, medium+ finish with fruit and spicy ending.

One of my favorites. Drinkable, earthy, some boldness, with no bite.
