🤯 This is outstanding. Lots of life and smooth as silk, not an edge to be found. It doesn’t show as much age as the bottle we had at the winery a month ago.
2 hrs in and on glass 2. I’m upping from 96 to 97. It explodes in your mouth. A 34 year old wine shouldn’t have this much energy, right? I honestly thought this would be a novelty, but it’s turning into one of my most enjoyable wine experiences. I’m guessing Bordeaux drinkers out there are giggling at the rookie. 😁

We had 1988, 95, 06, 10, and 14. Fun tasting! The 95 was my favorite. Still alive and kicking!

Dark garnet color with dark red and black fruits, leather. Still really high in acidity despite the age. Tannins have softened, however, and you get some additional smoke on the palate. Yum!

‘88 vintage still holding on to structure. Secondary notes are delicate and pretty. Well aged.

Has a deep ruby color with a distinct Cab varietal aroma and fresh light green herbal notes. The rich flavor and balanced finish comes through with loads of chocolate and rich, ripe fruit, specifically blackberry, cherry and plum. For an older wine it still shows through with jammy fruit, toasty oak and hints of licorice and spice that rounds out this well aged wine.
